Let’s Talk Story…

…is the Hawai’ian way of saying “come on over and set a spell!” For over two hours on Saturday evening, October 13, 2012, Cyril Pahinui, Hawai’ian slack key guitar master, regaled his audience at the intimate Davis Auditorium in Columbia University with a virtuoso performance and talked story about growing up with his father, Gabby Pahinui.

A generous artist, “Uncle” Cyril sang many traditional Hawai’ian meles, songs, performed exquisite slack key guitar instrumental pieces, and shared the stage with his lovely wife, as well as hula dancers from Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, California, and our very own Gracious Ladies of New York City!

“You don’t find this in a book, what I’m doing,” Uncle Cyril confided in us.  “That’s what I learned from my parents!”

    1. The coconut bra and grass skirt thing is not Hawai’ian, Brig, it’s just tourist PR stuff. Dancing hula….sublime! 😉 xoxoM
