Tiny Measures

When making lifestyle adjustments, I’m frequently tempted to go with the grand scheme. The seismic shifts. The yuuuugge changes.

Over the years, however, I’ve found that it’s the tiny measures that are most helpful in effecting change. It’s much easier to take tiny measures repeatedly; over time, building a more stable foundation for lasting change.

  1. I admire those who can do things in moderation. I tend to take up everything all at once or blow-torch it a la Sigourney Weaver in Alien, often with that level of fury.

At 57, perhaps Iā€™m doomed to continue this pattern. Keeps things interesting for my husband, at least.

  2. I’ve only just learned this lesson. I’m too eager to finish everything all at once or change something immediately, only it doesn’t work this way (for me, at least).

  3. Sometimes, change happens in the minutes..not the days or hours. In this minute, I vow to be my best self…the next minute is up for grabs, ha!
