Not Just For Some

www.coachingbytext.comWanderlust took us to Roosevelt Island.

Well, that and the Roosevelt Island Cherry Blossom Festival.

Maybe the tram had a little something to do with getting us over there.

The last time I went to Roosevelt Island was opening day of the Four Freedoms Park in October 2012. On that day, I was once more awe-struck by the vision and compassion of one of the great presidents of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt, as encapsulated in what is now known as the Four Freedoms Speech and was, in fact, his State of the Union address in 1941, eleven months prior to the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Lest we forget, this is what Presidential means.

  1. Thank you for sharing this! I had not seen this message from him before. I wish the leadership of our times were caught up to FDR’s vision back then. Sadly we are sorely lacking visionary leadership these days.

    1. The current occupant of the oval office may have attended the best private schools and, yet, he remains singularly uneducated, Jackie. That shortcoming could be remedied if he’d quit tripping over his own bloviated ego and were actually willing to learn from some of his truly great predecessors. Failing that, we must educate ourselves and stand firm in our own Truth and Power, Jackie. Carry on, my dear, as a service to Humanity, trusting that all our collective efforts are part of the Cosmic plan. 😉 xoxoM

  2. I went in a similar tram once and my claustrophobia got the best of me. The cherry blossom fest sounds wonderful. Did you get any pics from there? Would love to see them.

    1. I’ve always been a big fan of trams, Lori, so taking this one brought back lovely memories. There will be some pictures…in due course! 😉 xoxoM
